Welcome... to the Twilight Zone. Erm, I mean welcome to my blog. My name is Chi (it's pronounced “chee," just like the energy) and I live in Indianapolis. My family and I moved here from Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1985. Aside from a brief stint where I lived in Bloomington, Indiana, for school, I have lived in Indy ever since. I look forward to visiting Santa Fe again. I’d also like to live there after I retire, ideally in a house in the mountains. Guess I better get on the ball and save some money, eh?

My career as a writing professional got a big boost during the year I wrote an arts-and-entertainment blog for NUVO, a local newsweekly. Since then, I have worked as both a writer and editor, and I’m currently exploring my interest in visual art. Some of my favorite pieces are drawn in Microsoft Paint – yep, I said it – and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Check out my artwork page for a glance at some pictures I’ve created recently. I also recently opened a Zazzle store and have designs (Ha! I make joke!) on opening an Etsy store as well.

As I close in on 40, my interest in supporting myself as a written and visual artist grows. After a rough start to 2013, my urge to create was squashed between “winter” and “sad.” Only now, perhaps thanks to the return of spring (and time to heal), my desire to write and draw has returned. Everything is telling me I'm heading in the right direction. It's simply time to learn how to make a living doing what I love.

If you’d like to get in touch about writing, art, or just to tell me I’m fabulous, feel free to hit me up on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or via email (links at the top of the page).

I'm a plus-size, biracial lesbian (ooh, label-y) who loves to write and create art. I'm a milk chocolate enthusiast, Netflix devotee, and  excellent nap taker who is destined for world travel and continued greatness. I got recognized in an airport once as "the poet." That was pretty cool.
